He’s been around for 20 years, and has starred in a wide variety of roles, rendered in sitcoms like ER, Grounded for Life, Kings of Prosperity and Life. Moreover, he has featured in whopping, 40-odd films.
Donal Logue is best known for his role as Jimmy, The Cab Driver, which he portrayed back in the 90s, on MTV.
One would think that he would have struck gold by now and have a high-rated primetime television series to boast of, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.
His latest MTV show, ‘Terriers’, which was an ambitious project that he was very excited about, could not garner enough ratings and was pulled off air, after its first season.
But that was not enough to break the spirit of this veteran actor, who keeps going strong, accepting roles that he truly believes in, and doing all that is in his might, to make them a part of the lives of his fans.
Donal’s story about how he started acting is probably one of the most interesting ones that we have ever heard.
He stepped into the world of acting, during his student years at Harvard University. But before that, he had had a brush with acting at high school, thanks to his now deceased friend, John Everly, whom Donal describes as the most talented actor he has ever met.
So, what happened was that his roommate at Harvard, dared him into enacting a scene in a play, because he thought that he was very funny and would make a brilliant actor. Donal took on the challenge, and says that he hated it in the beginning. He found it difficult to memorize and speak lines written by someone else, and said that he would much rather do ‘improv’!
While that marked the beginning of this legendary actor, it was his prowess and determination that actually took him places.
He now finds the most difficult part about acting to be staying away from his children. He prefers TV, because that does not require him to stay away from home, for long.
If you are as much a diehard fan of this star as we are, you can download the latest episodes of Life and relish him in this epic show.
