Donal’s father Michael J. Logue, met his mother Elizabeth, in Africa where he was a Carmelite Catholic missionary and subsequently they married and had four children. He has three sisters; Karina (actress), twin sister Deirdre and Eileen (educational consultant).
He was brought up in El Centro, California, where he studied at the Central Union High School, moving on to St Ignatius’ College Enfield, Middlesex, England. Logue later also went to Harvard University to study history, where he got enrolled into the Signet Society.
He keeps visiting his mother in Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland and is both, a citizen of Canada as well as Ireland.
Logue’s debuted in movies in 1992, with the film Sneakers, playing the role of Dr. Gunter Janek

On the detective drama Life, Logue enacts the role of Cpt. Kevin Tidwell, who comes in as the new chief of the LAPD homicide department and Dani Reese’s and Charlie Crews’ new commanding officer as Karen Davis has been demoted to field duty. Hailing from New York, Tidwell is an easy - going boss but very devoted to his work. All his three ex-wives love him and he is extremely afraid of the earthquakes, as he never understands them. Slowly the romantic bond between him and Dani strengthens with the advance in story line and even as she repels him in the beginning, they soon have a very close relationship.
